Our running-based testing programme enables athletes to get a deeper understanding of their physiology to take their performance to the next level.  Our approach is designed to take all of the guess work out of your training and provide you with a detailed approach that will reduce your risk of injury and enhance your athletic performance.

Metabolic Testing

Metabolic tests measure the rate at which your body burns calories and uses oxygen at rest or during activity. We offer two tests at Pro Sport Lab:

  1. Resting Metabolic Rate

    This test allows us to measure your caloric expenditure at rest, enabling us to design a nutrition programme, to meet your weight loss, conditioning, or muscle building goals.

  2. VO2 Max Assessment

    This test allows us to measure the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during exercise. From this, we can identify your Heart Rate training zones and create a tailored training plan to meet your fitness goals.

running Strength Training Programme

Every runner will benefit from some form of strength training.

Whether you are a young athlete who wants to enhance your performance, or a master’s athlete that wants to manage existing injuries and slow the aging process, resistance training is so important in making you a stronger and more resilient athlete.

Our assessment process will determine your strengths, weaknesses and imbalances and create a bespoke programme that will reap the greatest rewards for you all year round.

Body Composition Analysis

Optimising your body composition can have the most significant impact on your running performance.  This isn’t simply an aesthetic element to training. Numerous studies have shown that athletes who have a low body fat percentage and follow a high intensity speed training programme are the most prevalent factors in predicting race performance.

running-Specific Recovery

Most people simply don’t think about recovery until something goes wrong, our core belief at Pro Sport Lab is that high performance simply isn’t achievable without effective recovery.

We work with our athletes to discuss everything from sleep, nutrition, hydration, stretching and massage to create a bespoke programme that is right for them.

INSCYD Remote Testing

If you don’t live near one of our testing facilities and you’re keen to understand your physiology and take your training to the next level, we are still able to assist you.  By working with INSCYD Remote Testing, we can send you our testing protocol that you can complete on a treadmill, or out on a run.  You then simply download the data; send us the FIT Files and we’ll be able to provide you with a detailed report outlining all of your performance metrics.
